The two IWA Professional Training courses (‘Decision Making in Wales’ and ‘Influencing Political Outcomes’) are designed by the IWA and led by Rhea Stevens, the IWA’s Policy, Projects & External Affairs Manager.
Rhea has seven years experience delivering policy change in Wales through influencing campaigns, including securing the legal right for children in care to stay with their foster parents until they are 21, through the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
‘Influencing Political Outcomes’ course aims:
To give learners an understanding of how they can work effectively to influence the Welsh Government and the National Assembly in Wales. This course will equip learners with an advanced understanding of devolution, and help develop the skills to influence policy development and set up successful campaigns within Wales.
Learning outcomes:
By participating in this course you will feel confident in your understanding of:
The workings of the National Assembly and Welsh Government at an advanced level
How to effectively influence policy makers within Wales including Assembly Members
How to establish and effectively manage campaigns within Wales and ensure that they have optimal impact.
How to set up, manage and market events and opportunities to promote campaigns to policy makers in Wales.

Additional Information:
This course is preceded by an introductory course “Decision Making in Wales” two weeks before. Previous participants have recommended taking both courses for maximum insight.
