Workshop 5: Commissioning Effective Research
There are many times you can do research yourself, but there are also occasions when you need the help, reach, input and scrutiny of others. This workshop will help you understand when and how to seek the support of consultants, and how to make better use of limited resources. The session will cover:
- When might you need to commission research?
- What to look for in a consultant
- Writing a clear and effective brief
- Ensuring value for money
- Monitoring progress
These workshops are developed and delivered in partnership with Dr Rob Rowlands, Director of Rob Rowlands Research.
Having trained in planning and housing, and with a PhD in Urban Geography, Rob has over 20 years experience working at some of the UK’s top universities responding to, developing and managing research. He has helped a wide range of organisations, from national and international governments, local and regional councils, to private businesses and charities, to develop research skills and critical thinking to find the answers they need to make a positive difference.
