We are proud to introduce this anthology produced in partnership with the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales.
In Wales, we are collectively proud to be the first nation in the world to legislate in the interests of future generations, with the Well-being of Future Generations Act. This anthology reflects that particularly Welsh approach to sustainable development, present not only in the Act itself, but in its pertinence to everyday life across the nation.
Assembled in this anthology are perspectives from across Wales, with different lived experiences and identities. They range from the narrative to the factual; the optimistic to the challenging; with subjects ranging from the food system to Artificial Intelligence.
This collection of essays is both inspiring and challenging. In asking the contributors to imagine Wales’ infrastructure needs in the very long term, we have asked them to step out of their comfort zones. Our challenge to ourselves, and to everybody else in Wales, is to step out of our own and our collective comfort zones, and to try to consider the ‘us’ who will be living here in the far-off future when we make decisions about today.
