The announcement that a new prison is to be built in Wrexham has seen the UK Government highlight the jobs and wealth a titan prison will bring to the area. However, since then analysts have suggested that the prison, destined to be the one of the largest in Europe, may not fulfill these claims.

Join the IWA as we debate this vital issue where it matters most, Wrexham.

This evening event has an first class panel featuring Ian Lucas, the MP for Wrexham, Robert Jones, PHD researcher at the Wales Governance Centre, Aled Roberts, North Wales AM, and former leader of Wrexham Council,  Elfyn Llwyd MP, and Frances Crook, Chief Executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform.

Adding to the panel will be the Reverend Nan Wyn Powell Davies, a former Prison Chaplain with wide experience of working and supporting prisoners, ex-prisoners, their families and communities in the Welsh speaking regions of north Wales, and Iolo Madoc-Jones, Principal Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Glyndwr. Chairing this debate will be IWA Director, Lee Waters.

The debate will be followed by a Q&A session.
