Three months ahead of the Scottish referendum the Shadow Secretaries of State for Wales and Scotland will deliver an important set of speeches on Labour and the Union, at an event hosted by the Institute of Welsh Affairs.
Owen Smith MP and Margaret Curran MP will set out their visions for the future of the Union, drawing on the role played by the Welsh and Scottish labour movements in shaping the United Kingdom and the Labour Party’s commitment to strengthening the devolution settlements in both nations.
At the event, which will be chaired by IWA Director Lee Waters, both Shadow Cabinet members will discuss the economic and social case for Scotland and Wales remaining powerful members of the United Kingdom. They will draw on the strong links that unite the nations and outline shared ideas for a prosperous future, as key parts of one of the World’s largest economies.
Audience members will also be invited to participate in the debate as part of a question and answer session.
